The Band

Based in Ithaca, NY, Jenny Stockdale & The Wax Matches bring together a lineup of musicians whose individual strengths form a cohesive, clear‑eyed folk‑Americana sound. At the center is singer‑songwriter Jenny Stockdale, supported by Mike Caporizzo’s melodic lead guitar and pedal steel work, Jess Caporizzo’s understated keys and vocal textures, and the steady low‑end foundation of bassist and sound engineer Brian Dozoretz. Drummer Justin Roeland adds rhythmic nuance and vocal depth, while multi‑instrumentalist and sound engineer Cass Barbour contributes guitars, Wurlitzer, accordion, trombone, and arrangement instincts that favor clarity over excess. The result is a band that values well‑built songs, thoughtful interplay, and an unforced musical chemistry that comes through whether they’re performing as a full ensemble or in their more intimate duo format.

The Musicians

Jenny Stockdale grew up in a small farm town where music arrived in fragments—folk records, gospel harmonies, bits of jazz phrasing, and the occasional rock station drifting in from far away—and those early contrasts continue to shape her writing. After performing locally in Long Beach, CA with Sam Outlaw and touring nationally with the harmony‑rich Dovelles, she eventually settled in Ithaca, NY, where she fronts The Wax Matches and continues to refine a sound that balances warmth with clarity. Stockdale’s songs favor directness over drama, drawing on lived experience and a quietly adventurous musical sensibility that lets her move between genres without losing her center. The result is a body of work that feels grounded, melodic, and unafraid to explore the shadows as much as the light.
